1. Delivery & Return Policy

1.1 Delivery

  • ByteHive delivers within South Africa only.
  • Delivery time is usually 3 to 5 working days from shippment collection, unless otherwise stated on the product page.
  • Delivery fees and any free delivery thresholds will be displayed at checkout before you confirm your order.
  • Risk in the goods passes to you upon delivery to the address you provided, but ownership passes only once we receive full payment.
  • We use third party couriers. By purchasing from us, you consent to us sharing your delivery details with them for the purpose of fulfilling your order.

Please note that standard deliveries with The Courier Guy do not include insurance. If you would like your shipment to be insured, you must select and add the insurance option during checkout.

1.2 Inspecting your order

  • When your order arrives, please inspect it as soon as possible.
  • If items are damaged, incorrect or missing, notify us within 2 business days with photos and your order number so we can investigate and resolve it.

1.3 Returns in terms of South African law

In addition to any store specific rules below, your rights under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA) still apply. For example:

  • You may have a cooling-off right for certain electronic transactions and direct marketing purchases, subject to the time limits and conditions in the legislation.
  • You are entitled to return goods that are defective, unsafe, not of good quality, or not as reasonably expected, within a reasonable period.

1.4 Store return rules (non-defective goods)

  • You may return most items within 7 days of delivery for a refund or store credit, provided that:
    • The product is unused and in its original packaging.
    • All accessories, manuals, and freebies are included.
    • You provide the original proof of purchase.
    • You will be responsible for the cost of returning non-defective items, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
    • For hygiene, licensing or safety reasons, the following cannot be returned unless defective:
      • Opened software, game keys or digital downloads
      • Items sold as “clearance” or “open box”
      • Special order or custom-built PCs and components that were assembled on your specific request

1.5 Defective, damaged or incorrect items

If a product is defective, damaged on arrival, or not what you ordered, contact us within 7 days of delivery.

  • We may:
    • Collect the product for assessment, or
    • Ask you to drop it off at a designated point.
  • Where a defect is confirmed and not due to misuse, normal wear and tear, or user damage, we will:
    • Repair the item, or
    • Replace it, or
    • Refund you, depending on availability and the nature of the problem.

1.6 Warranties

Many products come with a manufacturer’s warranty. The terms of these warranties apply in addition to your rights under the CPA.

  • Warranty claims may require:
    • The original invoice
    • Serial numbers
    • Returning the product for testing
    • Physical damage, liquid damage, lightning, power surges, tampering or unauthorised repairs will usually void warranties.

1.7 Refunds

Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method where possible, within 3–5 business days after the returned item has been received and inspected. Shipping fees are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error or a defective product.
